Title Work
If you have purchased a new or used truck MTA will complete the necessary paperwork for completing a title transfer and state sales tax. That Includes the Title Application, Rut 25/50 and Rut 7 forms. We will take care of the details so you can keep that new truck moving! Join MTA!
Licensing (Plates) versus Authority
There is a difference between licensing a vehicle and obtaining operating authority. Licensing allows your vehicle to travel through a state (whether you have authority or not). Authority allows you to haul goods for-hire in interstate commerce. Some states require registration for intrastate moves (pick-up and delivery within the same state), depending on whether you are hauling for-hire or private. We can help you with your operating authority in Illinois and the Federal Operating Authority and DOT number acquisition.
Licensing
How you license your vehicle depends on what you are hauling and where you are hauling.
If you operate exclusively in intrastate commerce (staying within the state), you must comply with applicable State and local regulations. You must possess a commercial driverís license, meet drug & alcohol testing program requirements, and maintain minimum insurance levels for certain hazardous materials.
If you plan to operate in interstate (across state lines) commerce, you must comply with applicable Federal safety regulations and operating authority rules in addition to the State and local requirements. You must notify the State in which you plan to register your vehicle (which may include the International Registration Plan), and the International Fuel Tax Agreement.
IRP Renewal
For a small fee Mid-West Truckers will renew your IRP plate, an IRP Temporary Apportionment Authorization or IRP Supplement. Join MTA!
Operating Authority
Generally if you are operating as a "for-hire" motor carrier of regulated commodities or passengers in interstate commerce, you must obtain Interstate Operating Authority (MC Number).
